TransFirst, a payment processing company has signed a strategic alliance with iNtelli-Bill, a medical billing service company and division of American Medical Systems, for payment processing products.

As part of the alliance, TransFirst will deliver a wide range of payment processing products, including integrated electronic payment processing services, for the medical community.

iNtelli-Bill provides online, flat-rate medical billing services and leases its medical billing software (HorizonMIS) to physicians who prefer to manage billing internally.

The integration of TransFirst’s payment processing solutions with HorizonMIS, will allow medical offices to enhance the way they collect patient payments at the time of service, and post-adjudication.

Under the deal, TransFirst will also allow the acceptance of eChecks, ACH transactions as well as offers a secure Internet-based gateway through which patients can pay any time, increasing opportunities for reimbursement.

The partnership is expected to minimize the chance of human error as patient information is entered only once.

TransFirst president for health and public services Carl Mazzola said: "In addition to offering many benefits for providers, patients will also benefit by the convenience of paying anytime, anywhere and the flexibility to pay their invoice in full or establishing payment plans."

iNtelli-Bill’s CTO Larry Evans said: "iNtelli-Bill is very excited to roll out this new system, which increases patient payment options, improves patient relationships, and saves everybody time and money. Physicians may see increased cash flow while reducing the costs associated with collecting patient payments and should see a marked decrease in outstanding patient receivables."
