Australian-owned point-of-sale provider Taptouch Software has introduced an embedded Tap to Pay function for its hospitality-focused platform, enabling contactless payments to be processed directly on POS devices.

The company positions itself as the first Australian-owned POS vendor to offer fully embedded payments built specifically for hospitality, as integrated payments gain broader global uptake.

The new capability allows venues such as cafés, restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels to accept contactless card payments and digital wallets – including Apple Pay and Google Pay – within the POS interface.

This removes the need for separate EFTPOS hardware.

By integrating payment processing into the core point-of-sale system, the solution is designed to remove the traditional handover between ordering screens and external payment terminals, aiming to speed up transactions and reduce friction at checkout.

According to Taptouch, the platform has been developed to align with typical hospitality service models, embedding payment options into workflows such as pay-at-counter, pay-at-table and self-service kiosk ordering.

Payments are completed on the same POS or kiosk used for order entry and table management, so staff do not need to move between different systems to finalise a transaction.

The company says this configuration is intended to support smoother operations during peak trading, help staff follow consistent procedures, and make it easier to train new employees.

The embedded payment capability is now available to hospitality operators in Australia and New Zealand, from single venues through to multi-site groups.

Taptouch CEO Scott Zhang said: “Taptouch has consistently invested in technology designed to improve hospitality operations and elevate the customer experience.

“Rather than adapting generic payment solutions, embedded payments are designed natively within the POS to reflect how hospitality teams take orders, move through service, and complete payments on the floor.”
