Mobile communications company, T-Mobile has
announced plans of implementing Square’s credit card readers in
selected US retail stores.
Square’s device allows people to make payments
by swiping a credit card through a Square dongle, which can b
plugged into the end of a smartphone.
T-Mobile said the deal is good news for small
businesses who want to accept credit card payments in the US
anywhere and at anytime.
T-Mobile estimates that more than 26m small
businesses do not accept credit card payment in the US and this
initiative will allow them to do so for the first time.
Matt Millen, vice president of small and
medium business sales at T-Mobile, said, “Formerly ‘cash only’
small businesses can now simply and cost-effectively accept credit
cards with their smartphone using Square, giving them an easy path
to growth.
“As these businesses evaluate their wireless
needs, T-Mobile is committed to providing quality of service, cost
savings and connectivity that are a requirement for their
success.”
