Philippines’ Social Security System (SSS) has partnered with Citi to launch a new SSS Citi Visa Prepaid Card, designed to provide SSS members with a quicker and convenient option to receive their loan proceeds.
The service will be available for members applying for salary loans at the Diliman, Quezon City and Buendia, Makati City branches.
The SSS-Citi Visa Prepaid Card will not be charged with any fee if used in Visa-partner merchants, but will be charged if used in accredited ATMs.
The card can be used in over 15,000 ATMs and over 200,000 Visa partner merchants in the Philippines and also for online purchases.
SSS vice president, May Catherine Ciriaco, was quoted by ABS-CBN as saying that members with the SSS Citi Visa Prepaid Card can get their salary loan funds electronically within days, instead of waiting for two weeks for their loan cheque to arrive through the mail.
"They no longer need to encash the cheque at the bank since they can already conveniently access their funds through ATM withdrawal, or by swiping their card for purchases at Visa-accredited merchants in the Philippines and overseas," Ciriaco added.
