Healthcare payments-focused fintech firm SmartHealth PayCard has teamed up with American Family Care (AFC), a walk-in clinic for urgent care, to offer affordable healthcare.

Under the agreement, AFC clinics in Houston and Dallas will accept the SmarthHealth PayCard Mastercard credit card.

Launched last month in the US, the SmarthHealth PayCard Mastercard credit card is solely dedicated to healthcare purposes.

The fintech firm recently partnered with i2C to introduce the credit card for healthcare.

Plans are on to upgrade the card in the coming months with new features.

SmartHealth PayCard co-founder Jeff Blankinship said: “The SmartHealth PayCard is a financial cure for healthcare.

“Our credit card is designed to ease the burden of medical expenses, giving Americans the means to pay for health needs right away and getting healthcare providers paid at time of service, so they can focus on providing exceptional care.”

AFC patients using the credit card can make payment for visits immediately.

At the same time, they can gain access to a prescription savings programme while availing up to $5,000 each in Accident Medical Expense benefits and Accidental Death Insurance.

AFC Urgent Care franchisee Shaun Gill said: “SmartHealth PayCard offers patients unprecedented benefits and a revolving credit line at substantially lower terms than other financing options.”
