India-based South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank has released the RuPay Kisan Credit Card and RuPay Debit Card facility for primary agricultural cooperative societies (PACS).

SCDCC Bank president, MN Rajendra Kumar, said the card will benefit all 9,500 farmers of the undivided district.

“The pass machine access will be provided in all 600 branches. These cards can be used in any other commercial bank for the purpose of business,” Kumar added.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) chief general manager, GR Chintal, said SCDCC is the first co-operative bank to provide RuPay cards to farmers with CBS facility.

“In VISA and Master card transactions INR6.5 ($0.10) of the income goes to foreign countries. This transaction costs only 40 paisa per transaction which will increase the income of the country. People of the rural area should not be deprived of the facility that urban people have,” Chintal added.

SCDCC will deploy 600 micro ATMs at all its bank branches including 166 primary co-operative groups.

Kumar said their bank has planned to install internet banking and Inter Bank Mobile Payment System (IMPS).

“We also provide ‘Aadhar’ linkage to the customer’s account which will be useful to them. In future, we would like to extend this facility to bank customers. This scheme will be profitable to the nation’s economy,” Kumar added.
