Mauritius-based lender SBM has teamed up with UnionPay International to enable all its merchants and ATMs to accept UnionPay cards.

SBM started issuing UnionPay RMB debit cards and prepaid cards in local currency last year.

The latest deal will see the lender cooperate with UnionPay International in acceptance business by enabling 200 ATMs as well as 4,000 POS terminals to accept UnionPay cards.

SBM Holdings chairman Kee Chong Li Kwong Wing said that cooperation with SMB in areas such as acceptance and card issuing will not only offer convenient and secure payment experience to UnionPay cardholders, but also lure more customers to local merchants.
