Santander has added an 18-month 0% interest period on purchases made with its 123 credit card, with cashback on certain spending.

Santander will also cut the APR on the 123 card from 22.8% to 16.5%, including the annual fee of ?24 ($40.02), or from 18.9% to 12.7%, ex-annual fee.

The card also gives 1% cashback on purchases at all major supermarkets, 2% cashback at all major department stores, and 3% back at all major petrol stations and on national rail and Transport for London travel.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, head of retail products at Santander UK, said: "We aim to make our service and products straightforward, easy to use and deliver great value for customers and their families and this is another great example of this commitment."

Santander 123 Cashback credit card now has contactless technology. It is available in any of Santander’s branches, online and by telephone from April 1.

Santander 123 is not the only 0% card on the market. Amongst others, Tesco Clubcard for Purchases offers an 18-month interest period, cutting the APR to 18.9% and Halifax Purchase MasterCard cuts the APR to 16.9% over a 17-month period.
