Samsung SDS, the IT services unit of Samsung Group, is planning to introduce a new fingerprint authentication mobile payment service in South Korea this month.
The company has partnered with South Korea’s payment gateway firms KG Mobilians and KG Inicis to launch the new service.
Also, Samsung SDS has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Information Certificate Authority (KICA), a government-backed certificate licenser, to launch biometric-based user authentication service.
The biometric security solution has also received the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance Ready approval to strengthen the business globally. The FIDO alliance comprises a group of 190 companies including Samsung, Google, Microsoft, Visa, and PayPal.
The solution will be supported by fingerprinting, eye-scanning and voice based technology for authentication.
Moreover, the firm is planning to set up an integrated certification center to start test run the new solution on its in-house intranet, with plans to later expand it to other Samsung affiliates and clients.
