Samsung has collaborated with a slew of point-of-sale (POS) makers to accelerate the adoption of its mobile payment platform ‘Samsung Pay’ at merchants’ POS systems.
The POS makers, who partnered with Samsung, include Verifone, Ingenico Group, First Data and Clover, PAX Technology, Equinox, ID TECH, MagTek, USA ePay and OTI Global.
Samsung Pay currently works with more than 90% of the top 250 retailers including small, local businesses merchants.
In addition to the Near Field Communication (NFC), the platform uses Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) that provides secure transactions for EMV chip, NFC terminals and traditional, magnetic stripe terminals.
Samsung said in a statement that the collaborations will help in validating the different POS systems in the field to ensure acceptance for Samsung Pay globally.
Samsung Pay CEO Sang Ahn said: "We are excited to be working with our POS partners to accelerate the adoption of mobile payments and bring greater innovation into the marketplace."
