Sainsbury’s Bank, a UK-based supermarket bank, has partnered Western Union to provide money transfer services to Sainsbury’s stores across the UK.

Under the deal, Western Union will offer its services in 170 Sainsbury Bank Travel Money bureaux within its supermarkets across the UK, including major cities such as London, Leicester, Glasgow and Birmingham.

The agreement will also allow Western Union to offer its consumer-to-consumer (C2C) money transfer services in future Sainsbury’s Travel Money bureaux.

Sainsbury’s Bank head of travel money Simon Taylor said: "Our new relationship with Western Union means we can address our customers’ needs to provide a reliable transfer of money overseas whilst delivering great service and the convenience of doing it while they are in store doing their shopping."

Western Union president for Americas and European Union Odilon Almeida said: "It has been our intention for some time to diversify our network in the UK and to work with top British retail brands to offer convenience for new and existing customers."
