The move marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion across APAC. Through the integrations, PPRO hopes to enable its international payment customers and merchants to increase their revenue from Indonesian consumers.

Kelvin Phua, global head of payment networks at PPRO, said: “Indonesia is a strategic market for our top-tier customers and their merchants, who are being pressed to globalise faster than ever in the wake of the pandemic.

“Indonesia is also one of the world’s most complex regions regarding compliance, regulations, and consumer preferences. Therefore, we are delighted to now offer these popular local payment methods, as well as the vital financial services that reduce the burden of complexity and manage the funds flow across Indonesian borders.”

DOKU and OVO

According to PPRO, DOKU and OVO are each considered among the top e-wallet apps in Indonesia, where credit card penetration is less than 5% of the population.

The new PPRO integrations feature a total of four payment types: e-wallet, internet banking, bank transfers and cash.

Himelda Renuat, chief marketing officer at DOKU, said: “As the leading payment gateway in Indonesia, we are constantly exploring ways to grow our footprint and increase our reach to new merchants and consumers. By integrating into PPRO’s global payments platform, we are widening our reach into the global merchant ecosystem. We will enable even more Indonesians to pay with their trusted payment methods when shopping online.”

Adding to this, Sinta Setyaningsih, head of PR at OVO, said: “OVO’s strategy is built on an open ecosystem approach and integrated model to create an inclusive financial landscape of merchants and partners, which eventually will also provide easy and convenient payment experiences for our users.

“Our integration with PPRO is a great stride in allowing users to seamlessly access the global e-commerce market, and in turn, enabling merchants to access the global payments ecosystem.”

PPRO also offers payment methods including Alipay, WeChat Pay, GrabPay. Bancontact, iDEAL, BLIK Boleto Bancario among others.
