PhotonPay has secured a money transmitter licence (MTL) from US state financial regulator, allowing the company to widen its payment and funds transfer offerings in the region.

The MTL is a regulatory requirement for businesses involved in moving money or providing related payment services at the state level.

This new licence follows PhotonPay’s prior registration as a Money Services Business (MSB) with the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

PhotonPay said that together, the MSB and MTL approvals position it to further develop its operations in the US payments market.

The company also reported enhancements in procedures such as customer and business verification (KYC, KYB), anti-money laundering measures, data security, and transaction monitoring to support regulatory requirements and operational reliability.

Besides, it is working on obtaining relevant licences in other regions, including Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and additional parts of the Americas.
