Indian digital payments major Paytm has launched a pocket Android POS device for contactless ordering & payments, dubbed Paytm All-in-One Portable Android Smart POS.
The device, which is intended to minimise the contact during the ordering and payment process, is being offered by the company at an introductory price of INR499.

It is said to feature ‘powerful’ processor, all-day battery life, and an inbuilt camera to scan QR codes and instantly process payments.
Additionally, the device offers cloud-based software for billing, payments, and customer management and can be connected using 4G sim cards, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Claimed to be more powerful and secure than the current portable Linux-based POS devices, it weighs around 163 grams.
The 12mm thick device comes with a 4.5-inch touch screen.

By GlobalDataPaytm intends to supply over 200,000devices within the next few months and expects to generate over 20 million transactions per month.
Paytm senior vice-president RenuSattisaid: “We are confident that this affordable pocket-sized Paytm Android POS device will enable everyone from SMEs to delivery personnel of Kirana Stores to collect payments safely.
“It is our endeavour to help merchants & traders to easily digitize their business operations, without any investment in technology or backend infrastructure.”
The new POS device is integrated with the ‘Paytm for Business’ app to issue GST compliant bills while managing all transactions and settlements. It also comes bundled with the company’s ‘Scan to Order’ service.
In addition to this, merchants will be able to avail of several financial solutions such as loans, insurance, and Business Khata to control digital ledger of all their transactions.
In June, Paytm expanded its postpaid lending services to enable users to purchase regular groceries from local merchants as well as shop at popular retail destinations.
