PayPal said that a small number of PayPal
employees are already testing the Home Depot payment system at five
stores.
This marks a change for the company which has
focused on e-commerce transactions to its first retail partnership
allowing payments on in-store terminals.
There are plans for further expansion after
the pilot period with an in-store integration set to include
location-based offers, making payments accessible from any device
and offering more payments flexibility to customers after they have
checked out.
The announcement comes days after PayPal’s
president Scott Thompson jumped ship to become the CEO of
Yahoo.
