PayPal Australia has launched a new chip and PIN credit card reader, PayPal Here, which will allow small businesses, service providers and casual sellers to easily accept credit card payments from their mobile devices.
PayHere is an app and Bluetooth device that is specifically designed for Australian markets, where Chip and PIN are widely adopted.
Besides accepting credit and debit MasterCard and Visa card payments, PayHere allows businesses to generate and distribute invoices and log cash payments.
Additionally, it does not carry any monthly subscription fees, but comes with a one-off charge of AUD139 ($128.2) for the card reader and a small fee per transaction for using the card reader.
PayPal Australia SMB, retail and strategy senior director, Andrew Rechtman, said with their long heritage as a trusted brand in Australia, they have been providing innovative technology solutions for businesses of all sizes for over a decade.
"With PayPal Here we’re proud to offer small businesses a solution that helps them take advantage of every sales opportunity, enabling secure payments online, on mobile and in-store, wherever or whenever they do business," Rechtman added.
