payleven, a mobile payments company for small and medium sized businesses, has expanded its footprint in Europe by launching service in Ireland.

Ireland is the company’s eleventh market in Europe and Brazil.

The service offers Irish business owners card payments without fixed costs, contractual obligations or minimum sales using Payleven’s chip & PIN card reader.

payleven founder and CMO Konstantin Wolff said: "Ireland has a huge market potential with a large number of businesses that still don’t accept card payments. With a smartphone penetration of over 60% and more than 6 million debit and credit cards in circulation, we see a strong need for our affordable solution."

Hailo, an e-hail app company and Payleven pilot partner, has been providing payment solutions by card with payleven’s Chip & PIN card reader in Ireland since January 2015.

Hailo operation analyst Niall Jackson said: "payleven affords Irish taxi drivers a seamless method of integrating card payments into their working lives, benefitting customers in turn by ensuring they can choose from a wide variety of payment methods."
