Japanese service Origami Pay has entered into a new partnership with UnionPay to expand its services across the world.

Under the capital and business alliance with UnionPay International, Origami Pay will be accepted at nearly 7.5 million UnionPay QR code-enabled outlets by the first quarter of next year.

The service will be available in 24 countries across North America, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa regions.

Under the arrangement, all Origami’s partner shops in Japan will accept UnionPay’s QR payments.

Origami will also partner with Taiwan-based payment service JKOPAY to allow JKOPAY users to carry out tractions at all Origami partner shops in Japan.

The service will enable all Taiwanese visitors pay directly from their JKOPAY app against any purchases.
