Plastic card manufacturer Nitecrest Group has started manufacturing biometric payment cards at its Leyland facility in the UK.
The company said that it now has the “capacity and technology” to start taking orders for biometric pay card in large scale.

The company produces banking and payment cards through its financial services operation TagNitecrestin at a 120,000ft2 VISA and MasterCard secure facility in Lancashire.
With biometric cards, customers will be able use fingerprint identification to carry out contactless payments above £30. This type of payments is accepted at all existing point of sale terminals.
Currently, the adoption of this technology in banking cards is in early stages, but is expected to be on millions of units by 2023, the company said.

Nitecrest group chairman Ronnie Hart added: “The physical payment card market is definitely experiencing resurgence in creativity and innovation.
“Challenger banks have the flexibility to be creative, from pantone coloured cards, coloured edging, metal cards and environmentally friendlier cards. The card suppliers are being challenged and TagNitecrest are excited to be up there, leading the way.”
TagNitecrest is a joint venture business of Nitecrest and TAG Systems.
Last month, TAG Systems partnered with Norwegian biometric technology firm Zwipe to launch a commercial biometric payment card offering, including an at-home enrolment platform.
