Fingerprint sensor technology developer Next Biometrics has partnered with M-Tech Innovations to develop and deploy biometric smart cards in India.

The partnership will leverage on NEXT`s sensor technology and M-Tech smartcard manufacturing capabilities.

Both the companies aim to develop contact-based and dual interface biometric smart card solutions. Furthermore, they aim to keep in line with the new banking card standards in India.

Next Biometrics chief sales and marketing officer Alain Faburel said: “We are very pleased to announce the collaboration with M-Tech and the strong growth potential that this partnership offers.

“As outlined at the January 2019 Business Update, we are in the process of building a sustainable network with leading players in the smart card ecosystem to commercialise biometric dual interface technology in the banking sector and beyond.”

M-Tech is an accredited and certified MasterCard, Visa and RuPay card manufacturer in India. The company also provides high-end technical solutions to banking, telecommunications and electronics industries.

Last month, NEXT Biometrics announced plans to sample One Touch Flex CL, its dual interface smart card solution in the second quarter of this year.
