Norwegian payment app Vipps has struck an alliance with payments firm Nets to facilitate invoice and bill payments in the country.

eFaktura, the e-invoicing solution of Danish firm Nets, will now be available across the Vipps platform.

eFaktura distributes around 100 million invoices annually. Nearly 2.6 million customers use it in Norway.

The tie-up will support payments of digital invoices and bills in Vipps or through online and mobile banking.

Vipps CEO Rune Garborg said: “We believe that this agreement will contribute to digitising all paper and email-based invoices in Norway.

“In the longer term, our ambition is to make the physical invoice obsolete. This partnership will create cost-savings for both corporates and consumers.”

On the bright side, banks, corporates and suppliers will not require system upgrades for gaining access to the new solution.

Nets Norway country director Frode Åsheim said: “Combining Vipps and eFaktura will empower digital consumers by providing them with an overview of their finances.

“This is a significant improvement on today, as currently consumers receive bills on paper, via email, or through Vipps or eFaktura, depending on which solution the invoicing business uses.”

Åsheim said that around 180 million invoices are being delivered on paper or PDF on a yearly basis.

Nets has been in the limelight since the start of this year for its consolidation activity.

This January, Nets closed the acquisition of Polish online payment firms Dotpay/eCard.

Nets also completed a merger with Germany’s Concardis Payment Group in the same month.

A month ago, Nets announced a strategic partnership with Polish online payments firm Przelewy24.
