The moment has arrived. Digital challenger bank, Monzo announced this morning that its customers can use their cards with Apple Pay

On its blog, Monzo apologised to its customers for the time it has taken to support Apple Pay. The challenger banks added Android Pay in October 2017. The long awaited announcement has been welcomed by customers.

Monzo stated: “Apple Pay has been by far the most requested feature over the last few months, and we’re glad that it’s finally here.”

To use Apple Pay, users just need to add their card to their wallet, or from the Monzo app. To make Monzo the default way to pay, customers just drag their card to the front of your wallet.

Tom Blomfield, CEO of Monzo, commented: “Apple is famous for building beautiful products with simple, intuitive interfaces. Their design thinking has long been a source of inspiration for us.

“Monzo’s mission has always been to make sure everyone can use and manage their money effortlessly, and with Apple Pay, we are one step closer to achieving that.”

Both Apple Pay and Monzo send instant spending notifications, which means, once Apple Pay is added, customers will be notified twice every time they make a transaction. To stop getting two alerts, customers have to turn off either Monzo or Apple Pay notifications completely.
