Canada’s largest credit and debit card
processor, Moneris, has launched a new app allowing merchants to
accept credit card payments via their smartphones.
The e-Select plus Mobile App allows merchants
to obtain real-time authorisation on transactions as well as send
email receipts and generate reports on transaction history.

The app is aided by the Moneris card reader
which can be plugged into the smartphone’s audio port.
A recent survey of the Moneris Advisory Board,
found that 57% of small business owners described their mobile
device as a vital asset in the running of their business.
38% said they would be willing to accept
payments via their smartphone and 60% of Canadian merchants stating
they would adopt an m-payments solution within the first three
months of introduction.
