MobiKash Afrika, a mobile commerce company, has launched a merchant payment service ‘Lipa Sasa Na MobiKash’ in Kenya.

The new service designed to provide mobile money transactions will be available across all networks, financial institutions, bill issuers, merchants and agents.

MobiKash Afrika CEO Duncan Odour Otieno was quoted as saying by Humanipo that the developments are in line with MobiKash’s strategy to strengthen its presence and portfolio while offering tangible and innovative e-commerce solutions.

"With Lipa Sasa na MobiKash, merchants across Kenya will instantly gain access to a safe platform, drastically reducing risks of handling fake currency and theft. The system will also enhance efficiency by making it easy for merchants to manage their records better. For the first time in the world merchants are acquired free of charge to accept payments through the Lipa Sasa na MobiKash product," Otieno added.

With the new service, MobiKash is keen to bank on growing customer base, with 25.1 million Kenyans currently estimated to be subscribed to mobile services.

Mobile money services was first introduced in Kenya in 2007.
