MasterCard has signed an agreement with Rogers Communications to support prepaid card available inside the newly launched Rogers suretap wallet operating on its payment network.

According to MasterCard, the suretap app will allow customers to simply tap their phone to pay at the retailers across Canada currently accepting contactless card payments through their NFC enabled smartphones.

MasterCard said that the possibilities of mobile payments include: faster checkout for consumers and merchants; no transaction value limit; store coupons and loyalty programmes all in one place; and guaranteed secure payment through its Zero Liability policy.

Rogers emerging business vice president, David Robinson, said: "We are thrilled to work with MasterCard to bring the contactless payment experience Canadians know today to their smartphone.
