MasterCard has qualified the card personalization validation (CPV) test tool developed by EMV chip testing providers Barnes International and FIME.
The test tool will assist banks, card manufacturers and personalization bureaus to validate if a product meets MasterCard’s EMV chip standard before applying for the formal CPV approval service.
US-based payment community, that prepares to adopt EMV technology by October 2015, will be able to reap the benefits of the tool thereby eliminating pricey and time consuming issues in the final certification stage while launching new products.
The tool, developed with combined expertise of Barnes and FIME, will be available in four forms named as, Barnes CPT 3000v3 CPV module, Barnes CAT 3000v3 module, Barnes CPT Pro Issuer FIME-CPV and PersevalPro FIME-CPV.
Vincent Poty, head of strategy and corporate development at FIME, said: "CPV is an important part of the EMV chip card issuance process.
"In the US, this is even more complex as the EMV chip must support more than one payment system so that the merchant can choose how to process the transaction based on their network preferences."
