Netherlands-based Magna Carta Chipcard Solutions has inked an agreement with payment processor Equens to launch ‘Snel en Simpel Betalen’ for educational institutions as an alternative for Chipknip in the region.

The new system, which means Quick & Easy Payments, will be based on contactless chip card technology and will be integrated into the Magna Carta FacilityPro system.

According to Magna Carta, Equens will manage the e-wallets, process the payments, and handle payments to the merchants.

Through this deal, both Magna Carta and Equens will offer a solution for existing Chipknip clients seeking for an alternative.

As part of the launch, the electronic purse Chipknip will be discontinued from 1 January 2015.

Magna Carta and Equens will also market ‘Snel en Simpel Betalen’ internationally with various additional services.
