JPMorgan Chase has named its mortgage banking head Kevin Watters as the new CEO of its credit-card business.

In the new role, Watters will replace Eileen Serra, who will step down from the role in January 2016 but will remain at the bank as an advisor. Serra joined JPMorgan in 2006.

After joining JPMorgan in 1999, Watters led business banking and mortgage origination prior to assuming the role of CEO of mortgage banking in 2012.

Mike Weinbach, who currently heads mortgage servicing, will succeed Watters as head of mortgage.
