JCB International (JCBI), the international operations subsidiary of JCB, has collaborated with Bank Saint Petersburg (BSPB) in north-west Russia to start accepting JCB cards at PoS terminals and ATMs.
The bank has 7,100 PoS terminals and 700 ATMs. Its network spans not only Saint Petersburg but also across the Leningrad region, in Moscow and Kaliningrad.
In 2015, JCBI launched its card issuing business with local banks in Russia. Subsequently, JCB's card member base has been gradually expanding.
The Japanese card firm noted that the collaboration with BSPB will make its card members to use their cards comfortably, while enhancing JCB presence in the market and enhancing brand awareness.
JCBI deputy president Kimihisa Imada said: “With this launch, JCB expands card acceptance in one of the most popular and famous destinations in Russia.
“Saint Petersburg has been recognized as Europe's leading destination for the second consecutive year by the World Travel Awards and we are proud that JCB card members from all over the world will be able to use their cards while travelling and sightseeing in the area.”
