JCB International Indonesia, a subsidiary of JCB International, has partnered with state-owned Indonesian lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) for card payment business.

The first phase of the collaboration will allow JCB cards to be accepted at all of the bank’s 175,001 ATMs as well as EDC terminals.

The phase has already been in progress for ATM acceptance since the beginning of 2015, and slated to be launched by the end of 2015 to enable EDC acceptance.

The second phase of the partnership will focus on JCB credit card issuing, which is expected by 2016.

JCB International deputy president Kimihisa Imada added: "This partnership will considerably improve convenience of JCB card usage across Indonesia by adding more than 153,786 acceptance locations.
