Ingenico Group has partnered with chip-maker Intel Corp to launch a tablet that supports EMV and NFC payment functionalities that banks use to prevent credit card fraud.
Under the partnership, Intel Data Protection Technology for transactions will be integrated with Ingenico Group payment acceptance capabilities in mobile and future solutions in the US and Canada.
The collaboration will also provide retailers with enhanced security for mobile payments and addresses credit card fraud deadline.
Currently, banks are responsible for fraudulent activity on credit cards which has cost them $14bn in 2013.
Starting October this year, retail merchants will be responsible for recovering the funds if fraud occurs if they do not upgrade their POS equipment to support EMV chip cards.
Ingenico Group chairman and CEO Philippe Lazare said: "We are very pleased to enter a collaboration with Intel, deploying secured payment acceptance into new connected devices. Bringing secure payment into connected devices will root our payment acceptance expertise in the Internet of Things."
