Ingenico, a contactless payment provider, is to collaborate with Japanese IT company Fujitsu to upgrade its UK rail ticketing system.

The partnership aims to meet information security standards and improve the UK rail network’s contactless capabilities.

As part of the deal, Ingenico is supplying Fujitsu with around 1400 iPP320 contactless PINPads and its centralised payment platform, Axis.

Axis will provide payment card industry data security standard (PCI DSS) compliance for all of Fujitsu’s manned kiosk and telesales ticketing systems.

The platform manages payment transactions from the POS to the transaction acquirer, providing customers with modules intended to protect against internal fraud and complies with security requirements.

Paul Patterson, executive director at Fujitsu, said: "Enabling rail companies to keep up with the latest technology is key to enhancing the customer experience.
