Hyatt Hotels has revealed that its payment processing systems has been compromised by malicious software.

Company spokeswoman Stephanie Sheppard in an emailed statement said that the attack was detected on 30 November 2015.

Details on whether the malware compromised payment card numbers, how long it affected its network or how many hotels of the chain were affected by the breach were not disclosed by Sheppard.

The company has already started a probe into the matter with the help of third-party cyber security experts.

"As always, customers should review their payment card account statements closely and report any unauthorized charges to their card issuer immediately," the hotel operator said in a statement.

Hyatt is the latest major hotel operator to report data breach since October. Earlier, Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, and Trump Hotel Collection also reported data breaches.
