Google has selected Oberthur Technologies (OT) to support the international deployment of Android Pay, set to launch in Australia in 2016.

OT will help financial institutions with its Digital Enablement Platform to allow this new service to be used by their customers.

This integration will enable end-users to make contactless transaction with all NFC-enabled Android devices.

Google senior director for product management Pali Bhat said: "Mobile payments is a big priority for Google and we’re working to support a wide range of issuers to make Android Pay available to everyone."

OT’s connected device makers business managing director Marek Juda said: "We are very proud to work with Google on the deployment of Android Pay, in particular in Australia which is one of the most advanced contactless markets and therefore of strategic importance for OT’s digital payments activities."
