Russia’s Gazprombank has signed a license agreement with JCB International to issue and acquire JCB cards.

Valery Seregin, first vice president at Gazprombank, said: "The implementation of the project with JCB International will provide the bank an opportunity to issue all types of JCB cards.

Seregin added that the agreement will enable our customers to make transactions on the territory of Russia and using one million ATMs and more than 26 million merchants in 190 countries worldwide, as well as to accept JCB cards in the merchants’ network using the acquiring services of Gazprombank.

Seregin said: "Cooperation with JCB International is a significant step forward in the execution of the bank’s retail business strategy. This cooperation unveils new prospects, and we are confident of success."

Gazprombank is planning to issue JCB cards at the end of January 2015 and implement merchant acquiring for JCB cards in March 2015.
