Russian oil firm Gazprom Neft has selected Gemalto OptelioPURE dual interface solution to boost the security and user convenience of its loyalty and prepaid fuel cards.

Equipped with EMV chip, the contactless cards are accepted in Gazprom Neft's up-to-date terminals supplied by Ingenico and are supported in Gazprom Neft's fleet card processing solution provided by OpenWay.

The new cards allow Gazprom Neft to use the optimised, banking-level security of the globally recognised EMV standard, decreasing the fraud risk.

Gemalto president for Europe, Mediterranean and CIS Philippe Cambriel said: “Embracing the EMV ecosystem and contactless technology provides Gazprom Neft with a clear road map for future business development.

“The introduction of contactless cards and terminals offers a significant step forward in speed, convenience and durability.

“They have also laid the foundations for the adoption of mobile payments and are now ideally placed to serve and support a fast-emerging generation of smartphone-centric consumers."
