Accountancy software company FreshBooks has introduced a new credit card reader for small business Android users that will enable them to accept credit card payments using their mobile devices.

Dubbed FreshBooks Card Reader, the device will provide dual chip-and-swipe capability to protect merchants from fraudulent transactions. It also offers EMV security technology.

The card reader, which is integrated into firm’s cloud-based accounting software, will automatically capture the payment information, instantly mark invoices as paid, payment notifications will be sent to clients, and reports will be updated.

Powered by FreshBooks Payments, the offering will enable merchants to accept Visa, MasterCard and Amex cards from their customers.

FreshBooks co-founder and CEO Mike McDerment said: "Chasing checks is never fun and there’s enough to worry about when you’re running your own business.
