First National Bank (FNB) is set to enable cancellation of a lost or stolen debit or cheque card at an FNB ATM, ADT or Slimline.

In order to cancel a card, customers will have to go through a four screen cancellation process, where they have to select the cardless option on the ATM or ADT, key in their ID number, key in their PIN, select the card to be cancelled and confirm the cancellation.

This type of card cancellation functionality is currently available through mobile banking, online banking and the FNB Banking App.

FNB Points of Presence CEO Lee-Anne van Zyl said: "The ability to cancel a lost or stolen card as soon as a card is compromised is vital in reducing the angst that customers might experience regarding the safety of their money. We are offering customers as many debit or cheque card cancellation alternatives as possible.

"Since it is not guaranteed that a customer will have access to a mobile phone to cancel a card, the next logical step was to make provision for this functionality on our vast network of self-service devices."
