First Data, a US-based payments technology and services solutions provider, has renewed and extended its partnership with Bank of the West to continue providing debit processing, ATM driving and network services through its card processing platform and STAR Network.

The extended five-year deal will see First Data providing credit processing services to Bank of the West, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas.

First Data financial services president, Barry McCarthy, said the expanded agreement will provide the bank with a single processing platform for debit and credit, as well as access to added functionality such as analytics and security available across its card base.

Bank of the West National Finance Group senior executive vice president and head, Paul Wible, said superior customer service is their highest priority and having their debit and credit portfolios on one card platform is an important consideration for them.

Bank of the West card services senior vice president and head, Jill Gonzalez, said as they move toward launching a chip card solution in 2015 for both consumer and commercial Bank of the West customers, they look forward to benefiting even more from the services First Data provides to them.
