First Bus has added Barclays Pingit, the mobile payment app, as an option for the customers to pay for their mTickets, thereby becoming the UK’s first public transport operator to offer the service.
Pingit on First Bus will render a simple, safe, secure and fast process for mTicketing, which can be used downloading the ‘First Bus Mobile Tickets app’ available for free on App Store and Google Play.
Since the launch of mTicketing in its Aberdeen and Worcester operations early 2014, First Bus has been selling over 30,000 mTickets per month across the nation.
Pingit, despite being a recently added option, has recorded transactions of about 7% in some of First’s operating areas.
Darren Foulds, director of Mobile Banking and Pingit at Barclays, said: "For quick, secure transactions on the go, mobile is fast-becoming a trusted method of making payments – whether from person-to-person or directly to a business.
