FIME, an advanced secure-chip testing services provider, has secured an accreditation from global payments technology company Visa to provide Visa Mobile Payment Application (VMPA) testing.

The accreditation will not only expand FIME’s existing Visa payment card and terminal testing portfolio, but will also include the Visa payment application validation on a secure element (SE).

Built in the secure element (SE), VMPA secure applet transforms an NFC phone into a payment device.

This will enable consumers to pay for low cost goods and services just by waving their smartphone in front of a contactless payment terminal, the company claims.

Commenting on the accreditation, FIME NFC & Payments Vendor Business Line manager Stephanie El Rhomri said that the company is witnessing increasing demand for mobile payment testing from its customers, who are looking to capitalise on the many opportunities this advancing technology offers.

"It is important to FIME that we meet these needs and deliver a comprehensive portfolio of testing services to support the evolution of the mobile payments landscape," added Rhomri.
