Data and analytics company Experian has partnered with fraud prevention software provider iovation to offer enhanced anti-fraud services.

Following the partnership, Experian will integrate iovation’s anti-fraud services based on mobile phone recognition in its range of tools for fraud prevention and detection.

iovation provides ReputationManager 360, a software that detects potential fraudulent transactions by analysing the device from which they are processed and its pattern of use. The software identifies all the mobile devices associated to an individual without requiring personal data to be disclosed.

iovation claims to be able to conduct nine bn device-reputation checks a year, and to stop 150,000 potential online fraud attempts every day.

Nick Mothershaw, director of identity and fraud at Experian, said: "With the rise of mobile commerce, the question of device reputation is becoming increasingly important. Our agreement with iovation will provide Experian’s clients with a new layer of defence against fraudsters and deliver a more comprehensive risk assessment and scoring of each transaction to identify and welcome legitimate customers."
