US-based Edge Mobile Payments has purchased the assets of digital payments firm Plastc to advance the future launch of its Edge Card.

Edge Card is designed to store the details of several payment cards into a single dynamic card. It enables payment through magstripe, EMV chip and NFC methods.

The Edge Card will comprise a colour screen, which is made of organic materials, for navigation of account, improved card security and cryptocurrency support.

Edge Mobile Payments founder and CEO Peter Garrett said: “While Plastc ran out of funding before it could ship a completed product, the company made significant progress in engineering and marketing a dynamic payment card.

“This acquisition will accelerate our production timeline and move us closer to what the public wants: a dynamic payment card with improved security that consolidates all your cards into one.”

The firm has reached an agreement to offer discount to Plastc preorder customers for the Edge Card.
