Dynamics, a developer of next generation credit card, has announced it will soon launch its new high-tech product: a card with an integrated keypad.
The middle six digits of the card’s number are replaced by a small blank screen. The full number, which will be different for every transaction, appears when the cardholder enters its personal code into five buttons on the card’s face.
The combination also activates the magnetic stripe, so it can be used with regular readers.
Jeff Mullen, Dynamics founder and CEO said: "If your card is lost or stolen, it’s irrelevant. The code being unique for each purchase, a thief could not use the card to make another transaction, because he does not know what the next code is."
Avivah Litan, a specialist in fraud detection and prevention for information technology advisory company Gartner Research said: "It’s not as convenient as what we have today but I think consumers are at a point where they want to do something extra if they know they’re going to get security in return."
The card reacts in the same way for its three-digit security number – at the back – offering some added protection if a web-market get hacked.
