Discover Global Network has signed a pact with payment technology integrations and acquiring solutions provider EVO Payments to further expand its card acceptance network in the UK and Ireland.
As per the agreement, EVO will enable its merchants in Ireland and the UK to process Discover, Diners Club International and affiliate cards.
The service will be extended to merchants in other markets in 2020.
The Discover Global Network includes Diners Club International, Discover Network, PULSE as well as over 15 alliance partner networks across worldwide.
It has more than 44 million merchant acceptance locations and two million ATM cash access locations in India, Brazil, Turkey, China, Japan, Korea, and Nigeria, among other countries.
Commenting on the agreement, EVO Payments international president Darren Wilson said: “Our partnership with the Discover Global Network will allow cardholders around the world to pay at EVO merchants sites in the UK and Ireland.
“This expansion of card acceptance is an important enhancement to our business proposition, as our merchants will now be able to serve a broader range of customers.”
Discover vice president of global acceptance Chris Winter stated: “Discover Global Network cardholders want to use their card of choice when traveling, and working with partners such as EVO gives our cardholders the ability to use their card at thousands of merchants in the UK, Ireland and throughout Europe.”
Last month, Discover Global Network teamed up with payments network Cabal to boost its card acceptance in Argentina and globally.
In the same month, Discover added Türkiye İş Bankası (İşbank) as an acquiring partner to expand acceptance of its cards in Turkey.
In October, Windcave, which earlier traded as Payment Express, agreed to facilitate card acceptance for Discover in New Zealand.
