Discover Global Network, the payments brand of Discover, has partnered with payments network Cabal to boost their card acceptance in Argentina and globally.
Cabal serves over three million merchants in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Brazil.
As part of the accord, Cabal will deploy Discover Global Network technologies with its merchant partners to facilitate acceptance for Discover, Diners Club International and affiliate network cardholders in these countries.
Similarly, Cabal’s more than seven million cardholders will be able to access the Discover Global Network when traveling outside of the region.
Commenting on the agreement, Cabal general manager Gustavo Salerno said: “This agreement represents the opportunity for Cabal´s cardholders to operate in the global market.
“At the same time, it allows us to incorporate the technologies, EMV and contactless, which place our brand in the highest international quality standards.”
Discover senior vice president of international markets Ricardo Leite stated: “The agreement will dramatically increase the number of transactions that we will see on the Discover Global Network in these countries.”
The Discover Global Network is operated by Discover Financial Services, a US-based card issuer. The network comprises Discover Network, Diners Club International, PULSE and over 15 alliance partner networks across Japan, Korea, China, India, Brazil, Turkey, and Nigeria, among other markets.
Recently, Discover Global Network added Türkiye İş Bankası (İşbank) as an acquiring partner to boost acceptance of its cards in Turkey.
Last month, Windcave, which earlier traded as Payment Express, agreed to facilitate card acceptance for Discover in New Zealand.
In August, the French banking group Arkéa signed an agreement to enable merchant clients of its distribution networks to accept cards from Discover.
