Diebold has deployed a new automated teller machine (ATM) and a Paydiant-developed mobile wallet solution at Diebold Federal Credit Union (DFCU).
The pilot run of the machine, which does not carry a card reader and PIN pad, and the mobile wallet solution allows users to complete self-service transactions and make retail purchases without using any physical debit or credit cards.
In order to perform a transaction, a unique QR code at the ATM must be scanned using a smartphone, to allow the machine to authenticate the user through cloud-hosted services to enable secure, cardless transactions.
Additionally, the integration of ATM with Mobile Cash Access (MCA) solution allows consumers to pre-stage cash withdrawals on their smartphones.
With no card or PIN required, the solution eliminates the possible risks of card skimming and shoulder surfing at the ATM.
DFCU CEO and president, Dan Gann, said Diebold’s Millennial-inspired ATM offers a new way to meet the needs of their members.
