UnionPay International has partnered with Deutsche Bank and its ATM service provider EVO to start accepting UnionPay cards at all the ATMs under Deutsche Bank in Germany.
Deutsche Bank will now accept UnionPay cards in its 6,500 ATMs.
The move will expand the acceptance of UnionPay cards by merchants in Germany to over 60%.
The deal is aimed at expanding the ATM acceptance of UnionPay cards in Germany and allowing local institutions to boost their capabilities of serving UnionPay cardholders.
UnionPay cards are currently accepted at around 80,000 commercial outlets across Germany, including duty-free shops, department stores and chain stores. EVO currently delivers ATM acquiring service to several banks in Germany.
The company is also planning to collaborate with partners to facilitate the overall optimization of the card acceptance environment and card-using services in Germany and Europe.
