Online travel firm has struck a commercial partnership agreement with Argentine credit card issuer Tarjeta Naranja, which is part of Grupo Financiero Galicia.

The 10-year agreement will enable Tarjeta Naranja customers to gain access to the travel products of Despegar.

This will be made possible through a white label online marketplace offered by Despegar to Tarjeta Naranja.

Tarjeta Naranja CEO Alejandro Asrin said: “This partnership with Despegar, the leading online travel company in Latin America, is another step in our strategy to develop a digital ecosystem allowing us to enhance the value proposition, service and experiences we offer to our more than 5 million customers.”

Both the companies involved will equally shoulder the funding expenses. Tarjeta Naranja will be responsible for the credit risk.

Despegar CEO Damian Scokin said: “This partnership provides access to a complementary customer base and also selectively expands our business through a cross-channel platform.

“We look forward to continue offering customers unique products, services and experiences across their travel journey.”

Despegar has a presence in 20 countries across Latin America. The firm provides access to products from over 512,000 accommodation options, more than 270 airlines, as well as nearly 1,190 car rental agencies, among others.

Tarjeta Naranja has 240 branches and a workforce of 3,400 in Argentina.
