Denmark-based Danske Bank is planning to launch biometric credit cards developed by Norwegian firm Zwipe by the end of this year.
The bank’s marketing manager Simon Steen-Petersen said the new payment solution is expected to be completed in a year, reported Planet Biometrics, citing Business.dk.
Steen-Petersen said: "We throw ourselves into this because we have a desire to be an innovative bank."
Zwipe has previously rolled out several pilot projects with its biometric credit card. It is reportedly working with MasterCard to create a credit card that combines biometric authentication and contactless payment technology.
In an interview with Finansfokus.no, Zwipes CEO Kim Humborstad said: "Pilot projects are showing good results so far. Now we will soon put on the market for commercial use."
